Biography:

Dr. Soumendra Darbar is a distinguished scientist and educator with a rich academic and professional background. He holds an M.Sc. (Double) and a Ph.D., and is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemists (FIC). Currently, he serves as a Senior Scientist Faculty at the Bioequivalence Study Centre, Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Jadavpur University, Kolkata.


With 15 years of teaching experience, Dr. Darbar has contributed significantly to undergraduate and postgraduate education at Jadavpur University. In addition, he has served as a Guest Faculty (Examiner cum Paper Setter) for the Post Graduate Diploma in "Clinical Research and Regulatory Affairs" at the same university for 12 years. He has also held the position of Guest Faculty at the S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences for seven years.


Dr. Darbar has an extensive research career spanning over 21 years in diverse areas such as Physiology, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Microbiology, Drugs and Pharmaceuticals, Plant Science, and Molecular Biology. He has 14 years of dedicated research in Ayurvedic drug development and 16 years of hands-on experience in animal house management, care, and breeding. He has successfully handled over 20 RD projects under the DSIR, Government of India, and supervised six Ph.D. candidates.


His academic contributions include 34 international journal publications, 28 national journal publications, four books, and six book chapters. He also holds two national patents. Dr. Darbar has received numerous awards, including the Best Poster Award at the Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (2009), two First Prize Best Oral Presentation Awards (2012 and 2016), and the Third Prize in the International Nanochallenge, USA (2018). He was also a Junior Research Fellow under the DST, West Bengal (2000–2001).


In addition to his academic and research roles, Dr. Darbar is a Nominee of CPCSEA for the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, and a Visiting Faculty at the S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences. His work continues to make a significant impact in the fields of pharmaceutical science and education.
