Biography
Prerna Mehta is a dedicated and accomplished academician and researcher in the field of Biotechnology. With over 8 years of experience in the academic sector, she has served as both a Lecturer and Assistant Professor. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at GD Rungta College of Science and Technology, Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, India, a position she has held since July 2022.
Prerna has an impressive academic background. She earned her B.Sc. in Biotechnology with a Gold Medal from Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University in 2012, followed by an M.Sc. in Biotechnology in 2014, both with First Class. She also holds a B.Ed. in Biology from Hemchand Yadav University (2022) with First Class with Distinction. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Biotechnology from MATS University, expected to complete in 2026.
In addition to her academic credentials, she has held several significant roles and affiliations. She is the Ambassador of Microbiologists Society, India (2023), the Associate Director of Management at the Creative Division of MBSI, India, and an Executive Advisor to the Board of Directors at the Micro Militia Division of MBSI, India. She is also the Ambassador of Sustainability Initiatives and Environmental Stewardship (2025).
Prerna is an innovator and has secured two utility patents: one for a chamber to detect radiation and a method to shower melanin to protect against radiation, and another for an AI-Powered Rural Enhancement System for Tackling Hunger and Ensuring Water Conservation through Smart Resource Management.
Her research and publications span diverse areas such as Intellectual Property Rights, Environmental Science, Biotechnology, Nanoparticles, and Medical Nutrition. She has authored several book chapters and journal articles and has been recognized with awards such as the Kendra Prabhari Sikhshak Sammaan (2019) and the Rungta Awards for Research Excellence (2024). She was also recognized as the Best Reviewer for 2024.
She has authored three books: Hidayat-e-Dil (2020), Assessment in Learning (2022), and Learner and the Learning Process (2024). Prerna is a skilled curriculum designer and researcher, with expertise in experimental design, data analysis, and strong communication skills. She is an active reviewer for several international journals and holds several lifetime memberships in scientific organizations.
