Biography
Miklas Scholz, cand ing, BEng (equiv), PgC, MSc, PhD, DSc, CWEM, CEnv, CSci, CEng, FHEA, FISEP, FCIWEM, FICE, Fellow of IWA, Fellow of IETI, combines the skills of a world-leading academic with those of a senior engineer with practical experience. He can both write technical planning documents to a high standard and implement them effectively on the construction site. Analytical thinking leads to rapid problem assessment and effective solutions to complex problems. With 27 years of professional experience, he also possesses the social skills to lead teams successfully. Miklas is motivated and goal-oriented, which leads to rapid success in the office and on-site.
Miklas works very well in project teams in various positions. He solves highly complex tasks independently and responsibly. Due to his in-depth specialist knowledge and project-relevant interdisciplinary expertise, he frequently leads projects and implements scientific findings in practice. Project-relevant standards, regulations, and laws, as well as proficiency with relevant software programs, are part of his practical experience, enabling him to work towards innovative solutions in a goal-oriented manner.
Miklas is a Distinguished Professor at Johannesburg University, South Africa. DProf. Scholz has shown individual excellence evidenced by world-leading publications, postgraduate supervision and research impact. His main research areas in terms of publication output are as follow: treatment wetlands, integrated constructed wetlands (ICW), sustainable flood retention basins (SFRB) and urban water management.
