Biography


Dr. Lamiaa Mageed Sayed Ibrahim is an Associate Professor of Clinical Biochemistry at the Biochemistry Department, Biotechnology Research Institute, National Research Centre (NRC), Egypt. Born on February 26, 1984, in Cairo, Egypt, she is a prominent figure in the field of clinical biochemistry and molecular biology.


Dr. Mageed earned her B.Sc. in Biochemistry - Chemistry from Ain Shams University in 2005 and later obtained her Master's Degree in Biochemistry from Helwan University with a thesis focused on "Evaluation of Serum Neural Protein S-100B and Oxidative Stress in Patients with Phenylketonuria." Her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Ain Shams University (2013–2016) was supported by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), Egypt, with a focus on "Association between Genetic Polymorphisms and Coronary Artery Disease in Egyptian Patients."


Her academic and professional journey at the National Research Centre includes roles as Biochemist, Assistant Researcher, Associate Researcher, Researcher, and eventually Associate Professor since May 2022. Dr. Mageed has led and contributed to significant research projects, including studies on biomarkers for Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, inflammatory mediators in Type I diabetes, and molecular profiling for obesity-related diabetes and chronic kidney diseases.


She has published extensively in international journals and is recognized for her expertise in techniques such as ELISA, DNA isolation, PCR-RFLP, and Real-Time PCR. Dr. Mageed is also actively involved in academic leadership, having organized symposiums and workshops on topics ranging from biochemistry to AI. She serves as a reviewer and editor for several international journals, contributing to the advancement of scientific research and education.
